This is the first experience of nursery for many children. A safe place to explore, where lots of hugs and physical affection create strong relationships between practitioners and 'their' children. In this room they will start to experience group singing, dancing, finger rhymes and regular story times to encourage concentration. Toys and activities are frequently changed in order to provide constant stimulation and variety, whilst daily art and messy exploration activities extend the children's experiences of texture. Early applications should be made for this room, as most children are registered before their birth, (even before their conception!)

Joanne is the lead practitioner in our Apples room. Originally she trained at Monkton in 1997, leaving to take up positions of promotion, eventually becoming a Nursery Manager before entering retail management. We are delighted that Joanne returned to Monkton and also holds the role as our SENCO representative, overseeing any children with different needs. She has a young daughter, Charlie.
Tara joined Monkton in 2016. She has a degree in Childhood and Youth Studies and NVQ Level 3 in Childcare. She then continued to complete a Masters Degree in Social Work, whilst working full time. Tara then left for a career as a Child Protection Social Worker, but happily returned to Monkton. Tara is always happy, smiling and full of fun. She now has two children, Riva and Kyro.
